a number of studies, very large studies done with autistic children. dr. catherine lord spoke with one this morning "the new york times" and went through the whole thing thoroughly. the result of it is that there is less likelihood of a child with autism to have an aggression against other people than there is for typical children, so not only is there no evidence that supports the fact that they are violent to other people, but they are actually less violent towards other people than typical people and when you really get into these stories about violence and you see children or young adults, what you're going to see generally is people with alcohol or drug problems or some other situation. they're seven to ten times more likely to be violent than typical children and autistic children are less so. sometimes, they are self injurious, but rarely to other people. these kinds of generalizations are killing us. these parents of children with autism, they're frightened, angry. people are talking about you know, autism as though they're acquainted with it. they're using it as a generalizati

is truly an honor. i would like to thank rob and mr. martin kramer did a great job demonstrating the lord. before i get into this, i would like to recognize eric trager. he is a fellow penn graduate. it is nice to see someone else from penn in this town doing this kind of work and doing it in a cutting edge and great way. i also want to recognize ambassador cohen, who had the hardest job from israel. as a testament to his character. it is interesting to me that when rob contacted me about doing this, he wanted to call the session egypt on the brink. not only does this have the benefit of being true yet again, but it is a particularly apt description of what we are likely to see in egypt for the foreseeable future. not only is it what we see with the future, but perfectly consistent with egypt's modern political history. in the central drama and egypt's history. it could digress a little bit in the struggle. because i think they reflect well on what is likely to happen. it is clear that what we are seeing now at this moment is a reflection of the fact that no party, not the muslim brotherh

of problems. i know the dot has done some work in that region and we are dealing with the lord's resistance army, one of the group said this helped destabilize the drc. we have tried to work with the drc pose a military. the battalion is considered to be able and capable but is too small to make a big difference. there is a critical role that the dod can play in building security capacity and working with the surrounding nations like rwanda and others that are critical to bring stability. there's a huge diplomatic element to this as well. it is critically important that the u.s. and u.n. engaged by high-level envoy to that region to make a critical difference in bringing the partners together. i know that secretary carson has been working on the issue and others have as well. this is something that does matter to us. there is incredible opportunity , economic opportunity for trade, partnerships with u.s. businesses, but we have to give them stability in order to take advantage of those opportunities. i thank the chairman for having this hearing and learning what more can do to help the situ
